Milling Machine Drawbar

I made a metric M12 draw bar for my mill, as the original one was 7/16" and not suitable for the majority of my tooling. It consists of a long piece of 12mm CRS, threaded with a die on one side.

To make the nut, a piece of hex stock was cut, drilled, and faced to size. Chamfers on both the bar and the nut allow for a strong weld.

Not the prettiest arc weld, but functional. At the same time, I also made an aluminium collar to help centre the drawbar in the spindle. This should also reduce the amount of vibration slightly.

It's always fantastic when one machine makes parts or tooling for another!
